The way we think about backup and archiving has changed over recent years. This stems from advances in synthetic and incremental capabilities, as well as a breadth of support for archiving information across data management sources (e.g. file and application). We have come to accept that these solutions are usually distinctly separate. They require different infrastructures and have different business drivers, like business continuity or long term information retention.
